Shirley's legacy continues as so many people continue sharing memories of how she touched and enriched so many lives. I feel honored and privileged to be her son.

My love to you Betty as you remember and honor your mother. I lost my Mom a year ago and feel with you the satisfaction of knowing your Mom had a life well lived that ended peacefully.

Dear Betty and Ben,
I feel a deep sadness at the loss of Shirly. She was a very close friend to me and my family. For many years, she shared all our family's loses and celebrations.
I am so glad that she remained independent, was able to live alone and had a peaceful death.
I know it is a terrible loss and shock to you. Our thoughts are with you.

To Shirley's Family,

Shirley and our fearless nursing group worked together at one of the VIP units in the 8th floor of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for many years. I have not seen a registered nurse like Shirley, she is one of a kind, very caring, super dedicated to the care of her patients. I have been worried for her since she would even use her breaks to care for patients. If you have been one of Shirley's patients, you would think you are the only one she is assigned to because she never appeared rushed, she took time to answer all questions and made sure all things are completed and anticipated all your needs even without asking.
It came as a complete shock to me today to hear the sad news through Nanette, also one of the RNs in our cohesive floor. We are getting together at the Veterans Park in CA on Sept. 28 to commemorate Shirley's legacy to all of us. She left us with such wonderful memories, her humor lifts our spirit every shift she's on duty and gave us inspiration to meet the challenges inherent to our profession. We will miss Shirley very much. We enjoyed working with her, we have pictures of her and we have lots of stories to tell of how Shirley impacted our lives. She lived her life well, and was a blessing to many including us who worked in 8NW CSMC.

We love you Shirley!

I got to know Shirley as she was a dear friend of my sister-in-law Marion Tanchain. I recall having both of them as our guests when they visited us here at Bass Lake, CA., just south of Yosemite Nat'l Park. We took both of them on a trip through Yosemite which I know they both enjoyed very much. I recall her being with all of us when Marion was in her last days. Shirley was a very sweet lady and will be missed by many.

I got to know Shirley through a long-time girlfriend, Patricia Cangemi, who knew Shirley well. Shirley always struck me as an obviously caring, warm and concerned woman. I'm quite certain she'll be missed enormously by those who knew her. Her various heartfelt contributions benefitted so many of those around her ... and society as a whole. Thank you so much, Shirley. My sincere condolences go out to you, Betty. You had a most wonderful mom.
